The Department of Pharmaceutics was established in the year 2005 and is situated on the third floor of the Pharmacy college Building at Kalapatti Campus. The Department is actively involved in development of various novel drug delivery systems.

In- vitro Evaluation lab
Department is well established with state of art facility and modern instruments for evaluation various solid dosage forms. Our lab is equipped with instruments like 8 basket dissolution assembly, fully automated tablet tester, Karl Fisher main drive with necessary accessories for blending, granulation and coating process. We also possess rotary evaporator, vacuum oven, Remi stirrers, incubator shaker and 12 station cad mach rotary punching machine for tablet production. We had also developed diffusion assembly for evaluation of bio adhesive dosage forms. Further our work was well supported by well established analytical lab in our institute to perform instrumental characterization and analysis for our samples.
In addition to the central library our department is having a separate departmental library with latest reference books of national and international authors.
Area of research Interest
We are actively involved in development of various fast and slow releasing dosage forms. Our areas of research include exploration of natural gums as pharmaceutical excipients for oral and topical dosage forms. Enhancement of Poor water soluble drugs by different techniques like Solid dispersion and Nano suspensions. We do tie up with leading pharmaceutical industry like Orchid, shasun Chemicals and Drugs Limited, natco pharma Limited, Dr. Reddys for pursuing the projects of our PG students.
We are currently received a grant for Rs. 48.87 lakhs from Department of Science and technology (DST) under DPRP scheme. We had signed an MOU with Dr Thang's Products under this scheme for development of topical aerosol for Arthritis.
Received a grant of Rs.10.13 lakhs for the project entitled" Design, development and antiarthritic evaluation of novel topical gel from herbs used in traditional practice" from Defence Research and development Organization (DRDO), Govt of India, New Delhi on 12th July 2010.
We also received Rs. 7 lakhs from AICTE, New Delhi under Staff Development Programme (SDP) on the topic Recent Advances in Novel Drug Delivery System for 14 days
Received grant of Rs. 1.25 lakhs for Organizing National Level Seminar on Recent Advances in Pharmaceutical Sciences"
